[MHN Roh Pooleun] BTS Suga's track 'What Do You Think?' in his latest solo mixtape 'D-2' became controversial of sampling Jim Jones.
The track featured a segment of a speech by the voice of the People's cult leader, Jim Jones, who was responsible for the infamous Jonestown Massacre suicide in Guyana in 1978, which resulted in death of over 900 people and was considered the largest single-day loss of American civilian life prior to the September 11 attack.
BigHit Entertainment issued an apology over the use of an audio clip of Jim Jones. "The producer on 'What Do You Think?' chose the audio in consideration of the overall atmosphere of the track, not knowing the identity of the speaker" "We apologize for anoyone who may have been hurt of offended" said BigHit.
The agency decided to re-release the track.
Meanwhile, Suga's second solo project released under his alias Agust D, has become a global sensation upon its May 22 release, soaring to the top of Apple iTunes album charts in 80 countries and regions. The lead track, "Daechwita," also dominated the iTunes' list of top songs in 50 nations.
