[MHN Chae Jiyoung reporter / translated by Jung Halim] The youthful sprint towards their dreams starts to begin.
The upcoming K-Drama 'Record of Youth', which begins broadcasting on September 7th, revealed its 4th teaser trailer filled with the youthful synergy between Park Bo Gum, Park So Dam, and Byun Woo Seok.
'Record of Youth' draws a story of youths who attempt to achieve their dreams and loves despite the large wall of reality. Stuck in a generation where even dreaming has become a luxury, each person finds their own way to get to their dreams, having the show record all their excitement and despairs.
The crew behind 'Record of Youth' also raises excitement amongst fans, as two 'syndrome makers' finally come to work together. An Gil-Ho, the director who has shown his detailed but sensitive directing style in shows such as 'Memories of the Alhambra', 'Stranger', and 'WATCHER', teams up with writer Ha Myung Hee, whose emotional yet realistic vision was expressed in her scripts for 'Doctors' and 'Temperature of Love'.
Perhaps the biggest selling point for the show are the actors, with the casting of Park Bo Gum, Park So Dam, and Byun Woo Seok. The 4th teaser showing the three keep forging their path despite the attacks from reality.
Sa Hye Joon, played by Park Bo Gum, might not like his reality where nothing goes as wanted, but is still confident enough to say to a hater, "Oh, how did I become like this? What's wrong with me?" While working as a model, he still has passion to attempt to achieve his goal of becoming an actor. He goes forward, ignoring the criticisms and thoughts from outside, but still retorts back to his father, "You aren't going to live my life." His normal life away from the spotlight draws a bittersweet emotion that people can relate to.
An Jung Ha, played by Park So Dam, has her own dynamic reality. She lives frustrated by the glares she recieves from her co-workers, but she does not give up. She attempts to go towards her dream of being a make up artist by beauty 'busking' and livestreaming. like her motto, "My dream is to create an 'An Jung Ha' brand," her faith in her dream makes one want to cheer her on.
The appearance of Hye Joon's best friend Won Hae Hyo, who is played by Byun Woo Seok, is also amusing, as the two share the same dream. "What do you mean what do we do, you got me. I'll take care of you," says Hae Hyo. When Hye Joon says, "They say your friends change as you age, as your circumstances change," Hae Hyo responds, "That doesn't count for us," having people eagerly await the chemistry between the two.
The immense energy that the youths show as they go towards their dreams makes watcher's have their hearts beat. The narration of them saying "You should define yourself. No one gives out fun things for free," leaves a deep impression. The remark, "I believe more in working for myself than others," has potential viewers curious as to what Sa Hye Joon's future will hold.
The new tvN drama 'Record of Youth' will be produced by Pan Entertainment, which has produced other hits such as 'Winter Sonata', 'Moon Embracing the Sun', 'Fight for My Way', and 'When the Camellia Blooms'. The first broadcast will be on September 7th 9 p.m. KST.
