[MHN Jung Halim reporter] Blackpink's Rose and Lisa will be debuting as solo artists to broaden their horizons.
Agency YG Entertainment stated on December 30th, "Rose and Lisa's solo singles are currently in preparation to be released, with their music videos currently in production."
YG continued, "Currently, Jisu is participating in the drama 'Snowdrop', and so Rose and Lisa's solo material will be released first." The date of release, track titles and other details are set to be announced on a later date.
This will be the first time either of them have debuted, with Jennie being the first from the group to release solo material with 2018's 'SOLO'.
After the release of Blackpink's first album back in June, YG stated that each member would be releasing solo tracks as well.
Blackpink have climbed the ranks of global pop-stardom as their first album, the singles "How You Like That', 'Ice Cream', and 'Lovesick Girls', and other projects have hit the global mainstream, with them ranking in both the Billboard and Official charts.
With attention focused on Blackpink as a group, expectations have risen for Rose and Lisa's solo debuts as well.
Blackpink's debut single 'Whistle' surpassed 600 million views on Youtube, leading them to currently be the K-Pop artists with the most music videos over 600 million views. Including the music video for 'Playing With Fire', which reached the milestone on December 28th, Blackpink currently own seven of them.
