[MHN Jung Halim reporter] Girl group (G)I-DLE have dominated local music charts with their new single "Hwaa".
"Hwaa" was revealed to have placed No. 1 on the Genie Music and Bugs Music charts for the January 11th chart, revealed on January 13th.
The song passed Huh Gak's "How did we", Lee Su's "Your Lights", and others to placed first on those charts.
The last time a girl group's song placed on No. 1 on a daily chart was Blackpink's "Love Sick Girls" three months ago.
"Hwaa" has also placed No. 2 on FLO, as well as placing on No. 17 on the Melon "24 Hits" category.
(G)I-DLE have stated, "It's like we're dreaming. This is all due to our Neverland fans. We hope that everyone who are spending suffocating and empty days will get the pleasure of reading a good novel through our album."
"Hwaa" is the lead single for (G)I-DLE's 4th EP "I burn", released on January 11th.
It expressed the emotions after a breakup with the concept of "Hwaa" or fire, made by both Soyeon and composer Pop Time. The Eastern instrumentals and the shady yet fierce lyrics are its stand out points.
"I burn" is currently rising in popularity in foreign charts as well.
Agency Cube Entertainment revealed that the album reached No. 1 in the iTunes album charts for Canada, Russia, Brazil, Italy, Finland, and more for a total of 51 countries.
