[MHN Jung Halim reporter] Girl group ITZY released their first English album, sending the signal for the start of expansion into the global market.
Agency JYP Entertainment stated that ITZY released their first English digital album "Not Shy" on January 22nd. The project contained the single "Not Shy" as well as the tracks "WANNABE", "ICY", "DALLA DALLA"; english versions of four previous lead singles.
ITZY are currently spreading their fame through interviews on talk shows such as "Good Day New York" and music magazine "Rolling Stone", MTV, and other American media.
On a question from "Good Day New York" about the reason they were able to captivate fans all over the globe, ITZY member Ryujin answered, "The message of the songs, of self confidence, might have been what resonated with our fans."
On the interview with Rolling Stone, they were asked the question of why they re-recorded their songs in English, with them answering, "I want to get closer to our global fans and communicate with them. I think this English album will allow us to have deeper conversations with fans and listeners."
Rolling Stone introduced the group as having "free-spirited personalities, sassy empowerment anthems, and can-do attitudes."
The group also released a music video that utilized the avatar app ZEPETO. Their dance moves were captured using motion tracking technology, and their expresions and hand movements were recreated using the app.
JYP has previously invested 5 billion won in NAVER Z, the company behind ZEPETO.
