[MHN Jeeyoung Shin reporter] (G)I-DLE has dropped two music video teasers for 'Last Dance,' and they haven't edited out Soojin, who has been accused of school bullying from her past.
Cube Entertainment and UNIVERSE revealed the teaser A and B respectively on April 26th and 28th. As previously reported, Soojin has halted all activities and been removed from the new (G)I_DLE single following her bullying controversy. The girl group has re-recorded their upcoming song 'Last Dance' as a five-member only, without vocals from Soojin. However, she will remain in the MV since refilming would be too costly.
“Other content, such as pictorial, making-of video, and more, will center around the five members as much as possible,” UNIVERSE added. “Lastly, the music video, which cost a lot of money and involved production staff from multiple partner companies, will be re-edited and released to minimize Soojin’s appearance.”
But netizens were not happy to see Soojin in the teasers.
Critical users called out, "At least they could have edited her out on the thumbnails. Them not doing the bare minimum speaks loud." Many claimed the company should have edited the idol member as much as possible before releasing content as Soojin has been staying quiet regarding her bullying controversy since late March.
Meanwhile, (G)I-DLE made their first comeback earlier this year with their fourth mini-album, ‘I Burn’. The project featured the title track ‘HWAA’, which has since become their highest charting song on the Gaon Digital Chart, peaking at number four.
(G)I-DLE's 'Last Dance' is set to release on April 29 at 6 PM KST.
