[MHN Jeeyoung Shin reporter] Red Velvet’s Joy is confirmed her solo debut, according to media outlet reports on May 12.
On May 12, insider reports say that Joy would be releasing her first solo album sometime by the end of this month. A source from SM Entertainment clarified that the album will contain a medley of remake tracks. More specific plans for Joy's first album will be announced soon.
Joy is officially making her solo debut approximately seven years after her debut in 2014 as a member of Red Velvet. Joy is the second Red Velvet member to release a solo album after Wendy, who became the first member of her group to release her first solo mini-album ‘Like Water’ last month.
Known for her clear voice from her past drama OSTs, Joy’s remake of Basis’s 1996 track ‘Introduce Me a Good Person’ for the ‘Hospital Playlist’ OST performed well on music charts and was nominated for the Melon Music Awards 2020 Top 10. She also remade several songs in the drama ‘The Liar and His Lover.’
