Chicken Galbi is a fascinating signature dish from Chuncheon, but let's talk Jade from now on with Chuncheon.
The Chuncheon Ockgwangsan is not only Korea's sole Jade mine but the world's one and only white-jaded mine. Ever since Daeil Mining Company found jade, in 1974 the company built this jade mine and still collects jade. They sell accessories, beds, water and even more products made out of jade for business under the label of 'Ocksanga Chuncheon Ock'.
This is the Ock Cave that was constructed to experience the finest jades up close. Walls are filled with displays of tea cups, accessories and more of jade-products along 150m. Gliding across the jade floor gets you feeling royal.
Inside the Jade Cave, there are enough of resting areas for your good. It's all designed in order to fully provide everything jades have to offer for all visitors. It's almost as good as if you're at a luxurious spa plaza.
The end of the Jade Floors actually connects to the inside of a real mine. The sign that says there's more than 300,000 tons of Jade stored under the six mines of this place totals to a space as big as 3400 acres.
At the end of the Ock Cave is an 'Onggi Museum' where numerous Onggis; potteries are displayed. It's a great place to learn traditional cultures of pottery by observing various kinds of earthenware.
