Yangpyeong is a two-hour drive from Seoul, a city abounding with no traffic jam plus the clear airs and skies of nature.
The 'House of Thoughts' is designed by designer Min GyuAm in its own unique six-housing pensions and seven glam-ping style pensions. Each house is named with nature's own ingredients such as Mint, Rosemary, Lavender, Thyme, etc. Bet nobody only goes to pensions to sleep these days, especially if you want to revitalize yourself with fresh air and relax from the hard working life of the city, so barbeque options, breakfast meal plans, and neat surroundings are something to expect.
The 'House of Thoughts' is where everything can be met with satisfaction.
Sapore is a restaurant owned by the 'House of Thoughts' of Yangpyeong, surround with trees and calmness, so eating, resting, sleeping in can all be done at one place.
As it is a popular site for magazine, movie, drama shootings, the modern designs of the buildings add much enjoyment during the stay. Each house is independent of each other and between houses are statues and art sculptures that add an artistic taste.
The reception and entrance of the restaurant. Sapore is a place to have breakfast or for a cup of tea. A cozy but tidy interior of this dining place also provides Italian dishes. Breakfasts are served from 9 - 10 AM at the cafe. The menu is usually stuffed rice balls but may differ by season. Breakfasts are free up to 2 people but an extra charge of 4500 won per person is charged if more accompany.
We stayed at 'Thyme' a four-member family room designed in tiles for the floor and an overall wood-style of warmth. A small veranda where you can heat up some barbeque and a Hinoki-tub, and bedrooms on the second floor all are more than enough for 4 people to stay.
In the kitchen, there's a fridge, microwave, water filter, rice cooker and more utilities that would work for cooking. If you pre-ordered the barbeque than nonetheless to arrange anything. All you need will be some pre-cooked rice, Kimchi, couple cup noodles, fruits, drinks and a hungry stomach.
All rooms excluding the glamping area have a Hinoki tub. A full and half body spa is available with no extra cost. The tub can be used once a day before 9 PM. A swimming suit is required, plus keep in mind that it takes about half an hour to fill the tub.
The BBQ meal plan can be ordered starting from 2 people, 30000 won per person. You pay at the spot and it includes 300g of rosemary pork, soy-sauced chicken drumsticks, big-sized marshmallows, grilled veggies, fresh lettuce for wraps, cooked rice, breakfast and dipping sauces.
You can still enjoy the barbeque by grilling what you brought. All houses have a personal barbeque area, and if you came with a huge crowd you can use the outdoor barbeque area. The coal for barbeque can be prepared until 10 PM and the set costs 20000 won for 1 set of 2-4 people. An additional 5000 won is charged per person when more than 4 people and can be paid in cash.
